Kirklington Park: A Historic Oxfordshire Venue
Operatico was delighted to be asked to perform a quartet at Kirklington Park for a private birthday party on June 15. The Manor House and grounds in Oxfordshire are stunning and were resurrected in the late 17th century from old original castle ruins dating from 1272. The house has been kept in an excellent historic condition and lived in now by the Boyle family. I love history and historical houses!
Live Opera Music for a Private Birthday Party
We performed 6 songs in a large dining room to what appeared to be only 20 guests and we were told they were just close family and friends. We were 1 of 3 other performers that evening and apparently the birthday celebrations had already been going on for 2 days prior and this dinner party was the ultimate celebration so we felt very honoured to close the proceedings. It was a wonderful experience performing as opera singers for birthday parties, creating unforgettable memories for everyone present.
Operatico Quartet Song List for the Event
We performed: O sole mio, That’s Amore, Skyfall, Nessun Dorma, Funiculi Funicula and we were asked to sing happy birthday as an enormous 3 tiered birthday cake was wheeled into the room. We prepared individually and then we had 2 rehearsals on the day of the party. Obviously, Nessun Dorma was the hardest song to sing as a quartet and yet it was the most gratefully received song by the birthday man himself as he began to cry in appreciation.
Skyfall also was a hit with the slightly younger guests who looked like teenagers and we learned that all the guests had been flown in from Europe, USA and Dubai. The songs were not the only success also our colourful blazers went down a treat! We wore a pink blazer, purple blazer, green blazer and a blue blazer.
